Joe Zagacki

  Voice of the Miami Hurricanes

 

Joe Zagacki is undoubtedly one of the most experienced sportscasters in South Florida.

He has been a part of the market for 40+ years and at WQAM for the past 27 years. This will be Joe’s 35th season on the University of Miami broadcast team and his 22nd as the Voice of the Hurricanes. Joe does the play by play for Hurricane football, basketball and baseball. He has broadcast all five Hurricane Football National Championships, two Baseball National Titles, two ACC Basketball Championships, and the program’s first Final Four appearance.

In May of 2019 Joe was given The University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame President's Distinguished Service Award for his dedication and service to University of Miami Athletics.

Also In 2019, The University of Miami Alumni Association presented Joe with the prestigious honor of becoming a  University of Miami Honorary Alumnus for his exemplary support and outstanding contribution to the University of Miami.

 Joe also served as the first program director at Sports Radio 560 WQAM from 1992 to 1994.

 From 1992-1994 Joe also hosted Miami Heat pre game and post game shows on WQAM as well as WBFS Channel 33. He was also the Pre Game and Post Game host for the Florida Marlins from 1993 to 1995 on WQAM and WBFS Channel 33

 From 1994 to 2002, Joe was a sports anchor and reporter at WFOR TV (CBS) and FOX Sports Net.

 In addition to his work with the University of Miami on radio, Joe has also served as the television voice of Hurricanes Baseball and Lady Canes Basketball.

 From 1979 - 1992, Joe was at WIOD Radio, serving as Sports Director for 7 years while working on the Hurricane broadcast team. He hosted a nightly sports talk show and was the sideline reporter for the Miami Dolphins.
